Getting There: Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) is the major airport for Santo Domingo and the most viable gateway to the Samana peninsula. Daily nonstop flights are available from the following airlines: American (Miami, New York), Continental (New York), Delta (Atlanta, New York), JetBlue (Boston, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Orlando), Spirit (Fort Lauderdale) and US Airways (Philadelphia). We will make group arrangements for transportation in vans. NOTE: if you want to be included in group transportation, you have to email your Flight Information to no later than April 20th . We will need the Airline name, Arrival time, Departure time, number of people traveling.

Otherwise, we can arrange for private transportation for $180 each way.

Getting Around: Renting a car is the most convenient option for independent exploration; if you provide us with your travel arrival and departure information, we will help in coordinating group travel. Otherwise, it’s best to arrange for a car or shuttle service, which we are happy to arrange as well. Once in town, you can rent a car from one of the local agencies or rely on taxis, which are relatively expensive. Motoconchos (motorcycle taxis) are cheaper, but it’s best to stick to short hops and choose only drivers wearing their license around their neck or a yellow vest reading motoconcho. Getting around Las Terrenas can be done in a wide variety ways. Car rentals and 4-wheelers (Quads) are the most preferred method of transportation, while motorcycles and scooters are also options. By car, bus or taxi, it’s a 1hr 50 min drive on a brand new toll road from Santo Domingo International Airport ( SDQ) to Las Terranas. By helicopter its 35-40 mins. It’s 3 hours from Puerto Plata (POP) and 3.5 hours driving time from Punta Cana (PUJ).
